The Floating Race Course

Take a pic at the exact “Geographic North”

The race takes place on a drifting North Pole camp called Barneo. The race is run on a circuit loop that runners must go through 10 times to complete the 42-kilometer run. The floating circuit goes through ice humps and incorporates part of the aircraft landing runway. There will be flags to guide athletes around the course to ensure that participants won’t get lost. Breaks in the ice and safety criteria will determine the maximum length of the loop. The end of the race will occur at the ceremonial Pole where all the lines of longitude symbolically meet—the true Geographic North.
